Quasi 19.000 visitatori di cui 4000 la serata d’inaugurazione. Molto soddisfatti i 90 espositori . All’indomani della chiusura della 20ª edizione di ART Innsbruck, Johanna Penz, fondatrice e direttrice ha potuto tracciare un bilancio pienamente positivo della manifestazione.
“Domenica non è stata solo la giornata con la più forte affluenza di visitatori, perché il nostro pubblico di affezionati si è dimostrato in grado di coniugare nel migliore dei modi l’interesse per l’arte e la voglia di fare acquisti. Una fiera per celebrare l’anniversario non poteva davvero desiderare una conclusione migliore: acquirenti di opere d’arte con le facce soddisfatte, visi raggianti tra gli espositori. Siamo molto motivati e ci possiamo dedicare con grande energia all’organizzazione della prossima ART che andrà in scena dall’1 al 4 dicembre“, afferma la Penz.
Il governatore regionale Günther Platter, si è scusato per non aver potuto partecipare alla serata inaugurale, ma venerdì pomeriggio ha fatto un giro nel padiglione e successivamente, ha fatto pervenire i suoi commenti ricchi di entusiasmo. “Congratulazioni a Johanna Penz e al suo staff! 20 anni di lavoro dedicati a dare vita alla manifestazione, 20 anni trascorsi a fare pubblicità e a portare avanti trattative senza mai mollare e, suppongo, lavorando senza guardare l’orologio. Da 20 anni Johanna Penz lotta per essere al passo con i tempi e con l’andamento del mercato dell’arte. I suoi sforzi le hanno consentito di garantire alla relativamente piccola ART Innsbruck un posto nel mercato internazionale delle opere d’arte, nonostante la dura concorrenza. Nel corso di questi 20 anni la ART Innsbruck è diventata un piccolo marchio sinonimo di raffinatezza che splende di luce propria a livello sovraregionale. Questo è utile a commercianti e galleristi che partecipano alla fiera, è utile a chi si interessa di arte e ai collezionisti, è utile agli artisti, che qui trovano il loro pubblico. Questo è utile per l’arte in generale che in questa manifestazione ha trovato il modo di salvaguardare il suo posto nella società. Per tutto questo Johanna Penz merita ringraziamenti e riconoscimenti. Alla 20° ART Innsbruck auguro successo e un lungo proficuo futuro.”
“Infatti, il nostro lavoro ha dato i suoi frutti“, ammette la Penz, che nel corso degli anni si è creata una vera e propria corazza perché diversamente non sarebbe possibile sopportare colpi mancini di alcune persone. “In generale si dice che un feedback pieno di critiche compare sulla tavola dei campioni per colazione, ma qualche volta e soprattutto dopo venti anni può capitare di servire una colazione a base di champagne per una giornata di festa“, afferma ridendo Penz. Anche il Lions-Club ha brindato con tutti i crismi ai successi dell’artefice dell’ART, che già da molti anni offre al club della sua città, il Lions Club Innsbruck Goldenes Dachl, un Forum per azioni di beneficenza in occasione della manifestazione. Durante la serata in onore degli espositori i suoi amici del Club l’hanno lasciata senza parole conferendole un Melvin Jones Fellow, il più alto riconoscimento del Lions Club International Foundation per personalità, che hanno dato un contributo eccezionale agli obbiettivi sociali della fondazione. “Un onore incredibile, non riesco ancora a crederci“, dice la Penz “ma questo per me rappresenta anche un segnale e un incoraggiamento a proseguire instancabilmente per la mia strada.”

Anniversary ART sees excellent sales and new visitor record
Around 19,000 visitors over four days, including 4,000 on the open evening alone and positive and enthusiastic feedback from the approx. 90 exhibitors. The day after the 20th ART Innsbruck, which closed its doors on Sunday at 17:00, the foundress and Director of ART Innsbruck, Johanna Penz, looked back on a very successful anniversary event.
“Sunday was the most heavily visited day of ART and this was reflected in an excellent appreciation of the artwork and a positive buying mood among our loyal customer base. You could not ask for a more perfect conclusion to this anniversary trade fair: happy art buyers and beaming exhibitors. We can now channel our enthusiasm into organising the next ART which will take place from 1 to 4 December,” says Penz. The ART had to be dismantled in record time due to the tight window between the trade fair dates: “We only had 17 hours before the handover but our team managed it brilliantly,” says Penz, visibly proud of her well-rehearsed team. But this time she too received lots of appreciative feedback, praise and compliments for her work.
Even state governor Günther Platter, who had to withdraw from the opening ceremony due to illness, dropped by for a lengthy visit to ART on Friday afternoon and passed on his enthusiasm through his office. “You have to congratulate Johanna Penz and her team. 20 years of development work, 20 years of persistent advertising and negotiating and all, I assume, irrespective of time constraints. Johanna Penz has spent the last 20 years keeping up-to-date with the times and the art market and as such has managed to secure the comparatively small ART Innsbruck a position on the international art market. Over the last 20 years, ART Innsbruck has grown to become a small yet refined cross-regional brand in its own right. This benefits the dealers and galleries who attend the fair; it benefits art enthusiasts and collectors; it benefits the artists who find an audience here; and it benefits art as a whole and enables it to assert its place in society. Johanna Penz certainly deserves thanks and recognition for this! I would like to wish the 20th ART Innsbruck every success and a long and prosperous future”.
“That’s great to hear,” Penz admits. Over the years she has had to develop a thick skin, as she always says, “because otherwise you wouldn’t be able to withstand the upsets and know-it-all attitudes you encounter along the way. It is often said that critical feedback is the breakfast of champions but after 20 years, you sometimes get a champagne breakfast or special brunch instead,” Penz smiles.
The Lions Club also celebrated the art enthusiast who has been providing her home club, the Lions Club Innsbruck Goldenes Dachl, with a forum for art charity campaigns at ART for many years. During the exhibitor evening, her club friends surprised her with a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest accolade of the Lions Club International Foundation which is bestowed on deserving members who have pursued the social aims of the foundation. “An unbelievable honour, I can’t really get my head around it,” says Penz. “But I also see it as a sign and encouragement to keep on pursuing this route”.
